The Material Handler (D- shift) has defined tasks to run the production facility, working on a rotating shift in a chemical processing operation.
Major Responsibilities
Participate and adhere to all safety related training and safety programs
Operating machines or mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient mode (Tanks, pumps, knockout pots, exchangers, PSV, valves, Filters (loading and tank), etc.)
Following all procedures – Operate and control the unit manually or via process control system (Delta V and SIS controls, fire suppression)
Startup/Shutdown of the Production Facility
Responsible for Hazardous and Non-hazardous material handling (Loading/Unloading Raw Materials and Final Products)
Product Changeover activities (Storage Tank/Railcar/Trailer/Iso-Containers)
Equipment Clearing, Cleaning, and Decontamination
Housekeeping of the Area/United States Coast Guard Yearly Inspections
Ottawa and forklift Driving (Trailer Moves/Equipment Moves)
Responsible for Loading/Unloading Trucks/Rail/Barges/Iso-Containers
Collect Samples for the Lab
Apply Process Control and Take Appropriate Corrective Actions
Autonomous maintenance/repairs in coordination with the technical team
Maintain shift log and hold effective handover
Mitigate unsafe conditions by unit shut-down or activation emergency systems
Troubleshoot and respond to process deviations using all available means
Follow all site and unit specific safety procedures and requirements
Maintain ethical and compliant behavior as required by corporate standards and guidelines
Comply and follow all site and unit specific environmental procedures and requirements.
Operate the RFID reader system for all railcars
Utilize the RailManager and SAP system for loading trucks/railcars/barges/Iso-Containers
Trained with Phenol Respirex PPE at the Barge Dock
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and one of the below:
The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Knowledge & Skills:
Basic Technical Mechanical and chemical knowledge ability to solve problems / difficult situations
Good Communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
