The Sanitation Lead is responsible for developing and implementing sanitation protocols to ensure a clean, compliant, and safe manufacturing environment. This role requires strong food safety expertise, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to lead a team in maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments to enforce sanitation guidelines, conduct inspections, and drive continuous improvements in sanitation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Sanitation Procedures: Develop and update comprehensive sanitation procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Cleaning Schedules: Establish effective cleaning and sanitization schedules for all areas of the plant to ensure high cleanliness standards.
- Leadership & Training: Supervise and lead the sanitation team, providing training and guidance to ensure full adherence to sanitation protocols.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate sanitation activities to minimize disruption to production, ensuring smooth operations.
- Inspection & Compliance: Perform regular inspections to assess the cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and facilities, collaborating with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for sanitation process improvements, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with production, quality control, and maintenance teams to resolve sanitation issues and coordinate related activities.
- Training & Development: Ensure that all employees receive necessary training in food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and apply mitigation strategies to enhance plant safety.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, ensuring they are communicated and enforced across the organization.
- Support Food Safety & Quality: Actively contribute to plant-wide food safety and quality initiatives.
- Additional Duties: Perform other job-related duties as required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in sanitation leadership within the food manufacturing industry.
- Proficient understanding of chemicals used in the cleaning process and knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Familiarity with GMP, SQF audits, FDA, PMO, HACCP, and OSHA requirements.
- Strong leadership abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and committed to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
