Job Overview:

TRAVELING ELECTRICIANS NEEDED – TEXAS TO IOWA

Are you a licensed electrician in Texas looking for a traveling opportunity? We are specifically seeking experienced electricians who are willing to travel to Iowa for a long-term industrial electrical project. Must have Journeyman License

What we offer:

  • **$50-$55 **depending on experience and work history
  • $180/day tax-free per diem for eligible travel expenses
  • Lodging provided
  • 7 days of per diem when you work 5 days in a week
  • Long-term project opportunity - project is planned to go for 10 years
  • Travel opportunity for qualified electricians

Important: This position is specifically intended for electricians who are comfortable traveling to Iowa and working away from home.

We are accepting Iowa-licensed Journeyman Electricians as well as electricians holding licenses from states that have reciprocity with Iowa.

Performance Objectives

  • Install EMT, rigid, IMC, and flex conduit, panels, lighting, and equipment so systems pass inspection the first time and meet NEC.
  • Read prints, one-lines, and specs; layout and bend accurate conduit runs that coordinate with other trades without rework.
  • Pull, terminate, and test feeders and branch circuits; verify voltage, rotation, and load so equipment commissions without delay.
  • Troubleshoot faults and restore power or production quickly, documenting repairs that hold up under audit.
  • Keep the work area clean, follow OSHA and LOTO every day, and leave the site safer than you found it.

License Requirement:

Must hold a valid Iowa electrical license or a qualifying electrical license from one of the following reciprocal states:

***Alaska • Akansas • Colorado • Minnesota • Montana • Nebraska • New Hampshire • North Dakota • Oklahoma • South Dakota • Texas • Wisconson • Wyoming

Out-of-state electricians are encouraged to apply. Iowa offers electrical license reciprocity with these states, subject to Iowa licensing requirements.

You’ll work first shift on commercial construction in the Cedar Rapids area. This is a long term project, expected to go for 10+ years. Bring your standard hand tools and required PPE (hard hat, ANSI glasses, hi-vis, long pants, safety-toe boots, gloves, hearing protection). Summit supplies the assignment, benefits, and a drug-free, safety-first culture.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed.
  • Own standard electrical hand tools and OSHA-compliant PPE; authorized to work in the U.S.
  • All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Role Selling Points

  • Long-term first-shift assignments—not day labor—with plenty of overtime available

  • $1,500 referral bonuses and a recruiting team that actually answers the phone: 717-626-4410.
  • A company built to support tradespeople’s careers, not just fill a requisition.

If you take pride in clean conduit, first-time inspections, and showing up ready, apply now or call 717-626-4410. Bring your tools. We’ll put you on work that matters.
