We are seeking a motivated and dependable Apprentice Plumber to join our team supporting facilities and plumbing operations at Georgetown University. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in the plumbing trade while gaining hands-on experience in commercial and institutional environments.
The Apprentice Plumber will assist licensed plumbers with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems across campus facilities while learning industry best practices, safety standards, and trade skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist journeyman and master plumbers with plumbing repairs and installations
- Support maintenance of water, sewer, drainage, and gas piping systems
- Help install and repair fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, valves, and water heaters
- Perform basic troubleshooting of plumbing issues
- Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work areas
- Follow OSHA safety guidelines and company procedures
- Read and interpret basic blueprints and work orders
- Respond to routine and emergency service calls as directed
- Transport materials and assist with inventory management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must possess a valid Washington, DC Apprentice Plumber License
- Enrollment in or completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in confined spaces, ladders, and varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Previous construction or maintenance experience is a plus
