Job Overview:

Level 1 – Maintenance Laborer

 

Under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor assist Millwrights and Maintenance Mechanics in day to day maintenance activities.

Performance Expectations

·         Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:

o    The Global Operating System Plays;

o    OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard;

o    ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard;

o    TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.

·         Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.

·         Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.

·         Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.

o    Maintain department 5S requirements.

·         Maintain systems to track, report, document and assist with scheduled preventative      maintenance.

·         Record coolant refractometer readings, top up machine oils, and record usage.

·         Manage oil and coolant inventories.

·         Housekeeping of storage area for fluids.

·         Operate forklift and floor scrubber.

·         Maintain equipment in a safe and clean manner.

·         Ability to use CMMS (computerized maintenance and manufacturing system).

·         Ensure compliance of maintenance instruction sheets and procedures.

·         Attend maintenance weekly meeting.

 

Credentials

·         High diploma or equivalent.

 

 

Desired Characteristics

·         Essential Skills

o    Reading: 5

o    Document Use: 3

o    Numeracy: 3

·         A minimum of one year experience in manufacturing.

·         Observe warning signs. For example, scan phrases and icons on caution and warning signs to identify hazards in work areas.

·         Measure various physical properties using common measuring tools such as rulers, tapes, thermometers and scales.

·         Evaluate condition of parts and equipment. Evaluate the safety of work environments.

·         Inform supervisors about work progress and seek guidance and approvals from them.

·         Perform tasks independently under direct supervision. Also form teams with co-workers when necessary to install and overhaul larger pieces of equipment and complete industrial systems.

·         Use computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining, such as AutoCAD to make small adjustments to scale drawings to reflect modifications to tools and equipment components.

·         Maintain continuous learning by reading manuals and bulletins to stay up-to-date with new developments. Attend training workshops on new equipment and safety procedures as required.
