Summary
The Lead Welder/Fitter (2nd Shift) is responsible for transforming parts and components into high-quality weldments that meet Pro-Cise, Inc. standards and customer specifications while providing day-to-day leadership and technical support to the second-shift fabrication team. This position requires advanced proficiency in welding, fitting, blueprint interpretation, inspection, and fabrication processes. The Lead Welder/Fitter serves as a working leader who assists with workflow coordination, training, quality assurance, and communication between shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Fit and weld components or sub-assemblies with minimal supervision using established welding processes and techniques.
- Produce weldments that meet quality, dimensional, and efficiency standards based on manufacturing drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Lead and support second-shift welding and fitting personnel by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and work direction.
- Coordinate daily workflow and job priorities in partnership with the Production Supervisor to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and quality standards throughout production and address issues proactively.
- Interpret blueprints and use measurement and inspection tools, including tape measures, squares, protractors, weld gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Perform TIG and GMAW welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as required for customer projects.
- Assist in fixture design, fabrication, and process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Train, mentor, and onboard new welders and fitters, ensuring adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
- Serve as a resource for welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and fabrication best practices.
- Complete all required labor reporting, work order documentation, and proper identification of work in process.
- Follow ISO procedures and safety programs, including PPE requirements and equipment operation guidelines.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Operate forklifts, jib cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices safely and efficiently.
- Communicate shift activities, production status, quality concerns, and project updates during shift transitions.
- Successfully pass required welding certification tests, including those needed for specific customer contracts.
- Assist supervisors with productivity monitoring, manpower planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position provides day-to-day leadership and work direction to welding and fitting personnel on the second shift. While not responsible for direct disciplinary actions, the Lead Welder/Fitter assists with employee training, performance feedback, quality oversight, and workflow coordination.

Education and/or Experience
- Technical Diploma in Welding preferred.
OR
High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of six (6) years of welding and fabrication experience, including demonstrated leadership or lead-person experience.
Previous experience leading, mentoring, or training welders in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Must meet Pro-Cise, Inc. welding qualification requirements and pass applicable certification tests.
AWS D1.1 certification required.
Forklift and lifting-device operation certification (company provided).
Physical Demands

- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
