Partner with the best

As a Lead Technical Writer, you will define, design, and develop online Help, manuals, training materials, and other technical publications for various machinery monitoring systems (both hardware and software components). You will work with cross-functional business teams within Baker Hughes to deliver and support high quality products on time.

As a Lead Technical Writer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring documentation tasks related to user stories are delivered, for every Agile iteration, by working with the developers, testers, product owners, and commercial leads.
  • Designing, developing, and delivering product demonstration modules and developing reusable, single source content.
  • Working as part of a global team, including overseas counterparts, in an Agile development environment.
  • Working with developers to ensure that all software UI messages are clear, grammatically correct, accurate, and written in Simplified English.
  • Preparing documentation plans and estimates.
  • Assessing and communicating technical or other risks early and suggesting mitigation options to the stakeholders.
  • Facilitating translation for technical documentation.
  • Keeping abreast of trends in the technical writing/user assistance industry and using this knowledge to improve and develop standards/best practices with other internal technical writing groups.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university
  • Have outstanding writing skills, namely a command of grammar, syntax, diction, and the conventions and best practices of writing a variety of technical documents
  • Be fluent in English (oral and written) and excellent all-round communication skills
  • Have minimum of 5 years of experience in Technical writing and/or e-Learning with 3 years exposure to software engineering applications in similar industries (condition monitoring, manufacturing of electronic hardware)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in English, Engineering, or Science from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 1 year of exposure to Agile Development environment
  • Familiarity or experience with authoring tools like MadCap Flare or Adobe RoboHelp
  • Basic skills with graphic tools, like Illustrator, Visio, and Snagit
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows help systems, electronic printing and publishing
