Job Overview:

 The Structural Steel Fabricator IV is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing the fabrication operations within the division. This role involves managing a team of fabricators, coordinating fabrication schedules, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in fabrication processes. The Lead Fabricator works closely with Management and Superintendents to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

  1. Oversee and lead all fabrication activities, ensuring the team meets production schedules and quality standards.

  2. Supervise and mentor a team of fabricators, providing guidance and support to improve performance and skills.

  3. Manage the day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop, including scheduling work, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.

  4. Communicate directly with project managers and engineers to ensure fabrication requirements are understood and met.

  5. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of fabrication tools and machinery, and manage inventory of materials.

  6. Conduct regular inspections of fabricated steel components, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.

  7. Drive continuous improvement in fabrication processes, suggesting and implementing changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.

  8. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and oversee the implementation of safety protocols.

  9. Report on project status, fabrication progress, and any issues or delays to upper management.

  10. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and the use of PPE at all times.

**Required Skills & Qualifications:

**

  1. High School diploma or GED

  2. 7+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication with at least 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory role.

  3. Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings.

  4. Certified in welding (AWS certification)

  5. Extensive experience in welding, cutting, and fabrication techniques.

  6. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex fabrication problems.

  7. Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor a team.

  8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  9. In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

  10. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and train a team.

  11. Thorough knowledge of safety standards and best practices.

  12. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

**Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

**

  1. The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.

  2. Wear Personal protective equipment (Safety glasses, face shield, gloves) and a respirator when required

  3. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers

  4. Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required, and night shifts.

  5. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.

  6. Good physical stamina and strength (Lift 51 pounds)

  7. Constantly moving on your feet.

Possess good vision (normal or corrected)

You should be proficient in:
