Lead Specialist, Project Controls

LEAD SPECIALIST I, PROJECT CONTROLS

The Lead Specialist I, Project Controls is accountable for providing Project Controls Services for the projects assigned. You will solve complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices in project controls. You will use your experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes. Utilizing KBR specific Project Controls procedures to effectively control project performance, you will provide project controls services during the various phases of project execution: front-end loading, detailed design, and construction.

This position will be based out of KBR’s Newark, DE office with occasional trips to local client sites. Potential for periodic business travel. Work schedule is flexible with remote work opportunities, pending project assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the project cost and schedule controls, change management, risk management, earned value measurement and reporting on major projects or a portfolio of small projects.

  • Responsible for all aspects of cost control including trending, analysis, forecasting, change control, cash flow and reporting.

  • Drive effective execution of project control functions on various capital projects. Actively interfaces with project managers, engineering work group leads, procurement specialists, and field execution personnel to obtain needed cost and schedule performance status updates for including into integrated project performance reporting.

  • Reviews project costs incurred by category, calculates future costs based on labor productivity, material price increases, subcontract, wage rates and risk analysis.

  • Provides project priorities to project team members to drive project completion. Actively participates in identification of negative trends and identifying corrective action recommendations to project manager and team members.

  • Review and audit cost, progress, and schedule reports that are prepared by others.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, within Engineering, Finance or Business, or Construction Management

  • 12 + years of EPC Project controls experience in the energy and/or chemicals industries

    • Project FEL, Detailed Design, and Field Execution

    • Earned Value (CPI & SPI)

    • Change Management

  • Knowledge & experience with P6 Primavera and scheduling techniques and schedule risk assessments

  • Knowledge & experience with the development of cost estimates for capital projects

  • Ability to facilitate Interactive Planning Sessions with project teams

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to function effectively within a project team

  • Must be able to self-lead and communicate to all levels of project team, including management and clients

  • Will need to supervise and develop junior project controls personnel

  • Preferred: Knowledge of the following PC’s concepts, processes, and software applications is beneficial.

    • Experience with advanced work packaging and schedule integration

    • Experience with project performance metrics & benchmarking

    • Proficiency in SAP PS cost system

    • Experience with the EcoSys Project Management System

    • Experience with MS Power BI Data Analytics & Reporting
