Position Summary:
The R&D Testing Lab Technician performs precise testing and analysis of materials within a research and development laboratory, supporting scientific experiments and ensuring material quality, safety, and performance in innovative projects.
Essential Functions:
· Training of all lab personnel.
· Monitors the condition of all equipment necessary for testing.
· Maintains an inventory of all consumable supplies needed for testing.
· Conduct detailed material testing procedures to evaluate physical and chemical properties such as strength, durability, composition, and specialized testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
· Assist in planning and executing laboratory-based experiments related to research and development projects.
· Record, analyze, and interpret test data meticulously, compiling comprehensive reports to communicate findings to engineers and project teams.
· Develop and improve testing protocols and methodologies to enhance precision and efficiency.
· Maintain strict compliance with laboratory safety standards and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
· Troubleshoot experimental and equipment issues, providing timely solutions to maintain workflow.
· Create quality and or manufacturing related documents in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge:
· Possesses a good understanding of Lake Cable products as they relate to special testing needs.
· Strong understanding of materials properties and testing methods, with familiarity in operating lab equipment such as spectrometers, hardness testers, and microscopes.
· Commitment to safety protocols and continuous learning in scientific advancements.
· Has basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications:
· Prior experience as a Materials Testing Technician or Lab Technician, preferably in an R&D setting, is highly valuable.
o Prior experience in quality assurance, materials testing or R&D is preferred but not required.
· Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific field is typically preferred but not a requirement.
