Job Summary:
The Lead Plumber is responsible for overseeing plumbing projects from start to finish, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. This role involves hands-on plumbing work, supervising junior plumbers, coordinating with contractors or clients, and maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance on residential, commercial, or industrial projects
Assign tasks and provide guidance to plumbers and apprentices
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and building codes
Ensure all plumbing work meets local, state, and federal regulations
Diagnose complex plumbing issues and implement effective solutions
Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and other trades on-site
Maintain project timelines and ensure materials and tools are available
Enforce safety procedures and promote a safe work environment
Train and mentor team members to improve skills and performance
Complete required documentation, reports, and job updates
Qualifications & Requirements:
Valid plumbing license (Journeyman or Master, as required by jurisdiction)
5+ years of plumbing experience, including leadership or supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and tools
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces
Ability to work in various weather conditions (if applicable)
