POSITION PURPOSE:
Ensure continuous operation of the plant, working on the floor, communicating with all team members. Ability to adjust machines in order to produce a quality, consistent product using data provided from previous shifts and current needs. Ensure incoming and outgoing loads meet quality specifications. This will require basic industrial plant operator knowledge, including good mechanical aptitude as evidenced by the ability to work with and use large scale equipment in a combined research/production environment as typically found in fuel ethanol, feed mills and soy processing plants. Follow production schedule and manufacturing processes to assure safe and efficient production of supplemental tubs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Ability to understand and operate the tub line, bag line, and other necessary equipment.
- Ability to lead team members and assist them in understanding the plant operations through various methods of communications.
- Maintain a team environment with operations and all other departments.
- Focus on cross training of operators in the process.
- Determine and delegate tasks to other team members to allow for efficiency and completion of all tasks on shift.
- Product quality checks, make minor process changes to maintain product quality as needed. For larger QC issues, bring to Plant Managers attention immediately.
- Share in the responsibility for making key observations of operations required to effectively develop, improve, troubleshoot, and make changes to the processes.
- Develop and create accurate logs on the extruder for recording operating conditions and provide reports as needed and instructed by Manager.
- Input data into such programs as Microsoft Excel, Word, and other company provided software programs specifically designed for use in the operations.
- Monitor and ensure routine maintenance is kept up.
- Comply and always enforce PTUSA, ICM Ventures and OSHA safety programs and regulations, including LOTO, Confined Space, and Electrical Safety programs.
- Process material inventory and communicate with proper departments when orders need to be placed.
- Ensuring a positive company representation to carriers, customers, and vendors delivering raw materials and picking up finished product.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training plant employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Willing to take on additional responsibilities as assigned and needed to successfully contribute to the development of Pellet Technology USA as a company and growing entity.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of specialized study or trade preferred.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
3-5 years of similar or related production/pilot plant experience in ethanol, enzymes, pharmaceutical or other biochemical industry preferred.
Familiar with operations of mechanical equipment common to fermentation pilot and production plants preferred.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating shift as needed. May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, wet and humid conditions. Must be able to work with chemicals on site.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds frequently.
