Description

Primary Function

Assists the Shift Supervisor with shift activities including safety, operator work assignments, management of quality standards, training and machine set-ups. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Assists the Supervisor or Senior Lead with shift activities such as monitoring safety, operator work assignments, housekeeping, and machine set-ups. Ensures all materials are ordered and in place at each work cell prior to start of new job and that proper line clearances are performed when jobs are completed.
  • Assigns machine operators to work centers on a daily basis and readjusts assignment of labor during the shift as necessary. 
  • Supports machine operators and assemblers by addressing quality concerns and ensuring parts meet established quality standards. Works with Quality and Process Technicians to resolve quality related issues.
  • Provides assistance to Machine Operators by ensuring packaging materials are available and by escalating equipment issues.
  • Ensures new and temporary employees are effectively trained in safety and work station operation based on job specific work instructions. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participates in continuous improvement activities such as 5S. Supports re-work and safe launch activities.
  • Completes production reports and enters production/shift data in ERP system.
  • Partners with Technicians as necessary to ensure workstations are set up correctly.
  • Acts as back-up for Machine Operators and fills in for breaks as required.


Requirements

Required Skill/Knowledge

1 year of previous manufacturing and/or quality experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, leadership skills, attention to detail, ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-task. Teamwork, dependable, organized, able to adapt to frequent change, experience in delivering hands-on training. 

Preferred Skills/ Knowledge

Previous experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and using basic hand tools, previous ERP experience, ISO Standards, continuous improvement concepts/tools such as 5S and root cause analysis, bi-lingual Spanish, MS Office, previous supervisory experience. 

Education Level / Required Certification:  

High School diploma, GED or equivalent

Additional Information:

May be required to work overtime and weekends, May be required to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time. May be required to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, climb ladders. Will be exposed to odor of plastics and may lift, push or pull up to 35 pounds. May use alcohol for cleaning purposes. Must be able to wear required PPE. Will operate pallet jacks. Other duties as assigned.
