Monday - Friday

2nd Shift:  2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

3rd Shift:  10:00 pm - 6:30 am


The Lead Mechanical Maintenance Technician is required to plan work and assign technicians in a properly prioritized and well organized manner. The Lead Mechanical Maintenance Technician also performs a variety of preventive maintenance and machine repair duties according to manufacturer equipment service manuals, factory guidelines, and management’s instructions; in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) in the maintenance department and within GMP and ‘food grade work’ guidelines.

  • Assist with the training of all new employees in maintenance processes, procedures, responsibilities and troubleshooting;
  • Provide direction and encouragement to staff;
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor staff performance;
  • Assigns project work as production priorities and management require;
  • Conduct in-depth problem solving of maintenance tasks and Root Cause Analysis;
  • Adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), SOP’s, equipment and safety practices;
  • Comply with and ensure staff complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations;
  • Must encourage and lead by example in 5-S implementation and ongoing requirements
  • Perform any other duties as assigned;
  • Provide backup for Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager in their absence for work flow and priorities;
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary


Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a maintenance environment in a similar or related technical position;
  • Minimum high school education with technical training certification in electrical, machine or multi-craft maintenance or 5 years of maintenance related experience;
  • Demonstrated success in training and leading a team of employees in a manufacturing setting to successfully achieve operational and quality objectives;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and ability to process data in the production area;
  • Ability to complete tasks with or without supervision;
  • Strong written communication skills with an emphasis on technical documents and records;
  • Intermediate math and advanced problem solving skills;
  • Ability to follow and enforce GMP and SOP guidelines;
  • Ability to give detailed instructions for staff to perform daily tasks;
  • Strong Mechanical/Electrical aptitude
  • Ability to stand for extended hours;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.;
  • Ability to wear any required PPE;
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator;
  • Ability to work around a variation of different smells and aromas;
  • Other physical requirements include bi-lateral hand and wrist movement and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require
