Lead Mechanical Engineer

Reuter-Stokes is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer whose primary responsibilities will be for the Mechanical design and support for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear portfolio of products. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will take the technical lead on projects and guide our early career engineers. You will present to senior leaders and to cross functional teams on how technologies interconnect and contribute to overall strategy.

Tasks will include:

  • Working with the cross functional Engineering Team to maintain and develop products for the Reuter-Stokes Nuclear product line, either as improvements to existing designs or as part of new product development.
  • Ensuring mechanical component and system designs have appropriate analytical capability, empirical design, testing, and production level verification.
  • Function as Certifying Engineer for Nuclear Products that are designed, fabricated, and stamped to the requirements of ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
  • Working directly with the respective Product Line Leader, Quality and Manufacturing Teams to ensure products meet internal requirements, start to finish, and provide for continued growth of the product line.
  • Design and design control for product changes that result from supplier changes, quality improvements, and cost reductions.
  • Support sustaining engineering activities for Engineering Change Management (ECM) and Non-Conformance Report (NCR) systems
  • Other responsibilities will include manufacturing support, testing, and failure analysis.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Have 10+ years’ work experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code experience, preferably Section III but will also consider Section I and Section VIII experience.
  • Experienced with preforming stress analysis of static, dynamic, pressure, seismic, direct mechanical, and thermal loadings.
  • Have the ability to work on U.S. Export controlled technology

Desired Characteristics:

  • Nuclear industry experience, preferably with Boiling Water Reactors, Pressurized Water Reactors, or similar
  • Have experience with a CAD package (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Have experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Have familiarity with SAP or similar ERP system
  • Have hands-on experience doing failure analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Have the desire to advance team capabilities using new methods, materials, technologies, and software tools
  • Results-oriented self-starter with a track record of delivering results
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels
