This is a Direct Hire position

NW Industrial Staffing in recruiting an experienced Lead Mechanic for a wood products company in Roseburg, OR to work alongside maintenance crew to schedule and perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment such as forklifts, pickups, loaders and shovels, welders, pressure washers, dump trucks, manlifts, etc.

JOB DUTIES:

• Diagnose, service and repair diesel powered vehicles/equipment, air brakes, transmissions, high voltage generators, propane powered equipment, pneumatic systems & computer electronic controls
• Attend and/or provide monthly safety training topics
• Assist in training staff in mechanical repair techniques
• Perform routine maintenance such as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires & clutches, change oil & filters, lubricate vehicles, etc.
• Fabricate, modify and install special equipment or replacement parts using hand tools, welders, torch sets, plasma cutter & metal cutting saws
• Order and maintain appropriate supplies & stock
• Coordinate with vendors for assistance with repairs beyond internal capabilities
• Communicate any unsafe conditions and accidents/injures appropriately
• Demonstrate continuous improvement efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic including electrical repairs, hydraulics, welding, rebuilding cylinders and troubleshooting
• Must have own tools
• Must know all facets of heavy equipment repairs including repair of hydraulic, electrical, gas, diesel & propane systems
• Must have some experience operating heavy equipment
• Must have knowledge, skills and ability to apply machine specific lockout procedures, lead safety training topics & certify employee competencies when applicable
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills required to communicate with operators and all levels of management

• Shift: Days

• Schedule: Monday -Friday

• Hours: 5:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

• Pay: $39.03/h
