Green Rabbit, recently acquired by Performance Food Group and working under their Vistar Retail Segment, is a cold storage facility and we are looking for a 1st shift Maintenance Lead to work in our warehouse. Weekends could be required at times.

Position Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading daily maintenance execution within the facility while remaining hands-on with troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities. This role serves as the technical lead for the maintenance team, coordinating work, supporting technician development, and ensuring the safe, reliable operation of critical building and production systems.

This position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys leading by example, improving equipment reliability, and working in a modern, safety-focused operation.
 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities for the assigned area or shift

  • Prioritize work orders and respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime

  • Support onboarding and training of maintenance technicians and trainees

  • Provide break coverage and ensure continuity of maintenance support

  • Serve as a technical resource and point of escalation for complex issues

Maintenance & Technical Execution

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of:

    • Refrigeration systems

    • HVAC systems

    • Air compressors

    • Production and warehouse equipment

    • Facility infrastructure and building systems

  • Support preventive maintenance (PM) execution and continuous improvement efforts

  • Assist with installations, modifications, and equipment upgrades

  • Maintain accurate documentation and work order records (CMMS or equivalent)

Safety, Quality & Reliability

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies and procedures

  • Support safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems (where applicable)

  • Maintain housekeeping standards within maintenance areas

  • Escalate safety, equipment, or reliability concerns as needed


Authority & Decision-Making


  • Prioritize maintenance work within assigned area or shift

  • Make real-time decisions to address equipment issues and downtime

  • Recommend equipment shutdowns, repairs, or corrective actions when safety or reliability is at risk

  • Partner with operations leadership to align maintenance priorities

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)

2+ years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, production, or industrial environment

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

Ability to work independently and lead by example on the floor

Preferred Qualifications

3–5 years of maintenance experience

Previous lead or senior technician experience

Technical training or associate degree in maintenance, industrial technology, or related field

Certifications such as:

HVAC certification

Ammonia refrigeration training/certification

OSHA or forklift certification
