Lead Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading daily maintenance activities while providing hands-on support for equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment while supporting the development of maintenance team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities and work assignments.

  • Perform and oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs.

  • Minimize downtime through effective response to equipment failures and root cause analysis.

  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance projects.

  • Enforce safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and 5S practices.

  • Train, mentor, and support maintenance technicians in skill development and best practices.

  • Coordinate maintenance efforts across departments to support production goals.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.

  • Monitor maintenance performance and communicate equipment issues to leadership.

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 6+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

  • 2+ years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.

Preferred

  • Manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Experience with CMMS systems.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement principles.
