Job Overview:

The Opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of building design, process integration, and project delivery, and will play a critical part in delivering complex industrial capital projects for leading global manufacturers.

You will bring deep expertise in your core discipline (Architecture, Structural, or MEP), while leading cross-disciplinary design coordination—ensuring seamless integration between facility design, process requirements, and construction execution.

As a key client-facing leader, you will drive design excellence, coordination, and technical delivery across the full project lifecycle, from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the end-to-end design coordination across architectural, structural, MEP, and process disciplines.
  • Act as the primary design authority within your discipline, providing technical oversight and sign-off where required.
  • Ensure effective integration between process engineering and building design, aligning facility layouts with operational and manufacturing requirements.
  • Drive a design management mindset, ensuring all disciplines are aligned, coordinated, and optimized.

Project Delivery

  • Support and lead projects through all phases: concept, design development, detailed design, procurement, and construction.
  • Collaborate closely with Project & Construction Managers to ensure design intent is maintained through execution.
  • Manage design timelines, deliverables, and coordination milestones to meet overall project schedules.
  • Contribute to both greenfield and brownfield industrial projects.

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, codes, and industry standards across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, constructability, and efficiency in all design outputs.
  • Review drawings, models, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support permitting processes and approvals where required.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Act as a key interface with clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout the design process.
  • Facilitate cross-functional design workshops and coordination meetings.
  • Provide clear technical communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and project partners.

Commercial & Delivery Support

  • Support scope definition, design budgeting, and consultant selection.
  • Contribute to risk identification and mitigation during the design phase.
  • Assist in managing external design consultants and ensuring alignment with project objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional license required (e.g., Registered Architect, PE).
  • Ability or willingness to obtain multi-state licensure as project needs require.

Experience

  • Proven experience in design leadership and multidisciplinary coordination within industrial or complex building environments.
  • Strong background in facility design within manufacturing, industrial, or process-driven sectors (FMCG, Food & Beverage, Pharma, Chemical, etc. preferred).
  • Experience working within engineering consulting firms, design firms, or integrated project delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge core discipline expertise with broader design management responsibilities.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of building systems, design coordination, and construction interfaces.
  • Familiarity with CAD/BIM platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Suite, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience working alongside process engineering teams is highly desirable.

Professional Competencies

  • Strong design management and coordination mindset—able to integrate multiple disciplines into a cohesive solution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and detail-oriented levels.
  • Proactive, solutions-driven, and comfortable working in dynamic project environments.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on quality and delivery excellence.
