In this role, you will collaborate with a global cross-functional team.
How will you make a difference?
This position provides a unique opportunity to interact with all locomotive subsystems with control content while developing the Next Gen Locomotive Control Architecture that modernizes the electronics, software, applications, and network communication, intending to improve software quality, engineering productivity, meeting cyber security expectations, all while addressing the latest customer needs.
What will your typical day look like?
The Lead Control System Verification Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of test plans that trace to requirements, test procedures preparation and execution on simulators and target environment, test result analysis, review, and acceptance. You will:
Participate in requirements specification reviews at various levels within the control system.
Definition of test cases and traceability to requirements.
Development and maintenance of test procedures for verification of input requirements and regression testing.
Execution of test procedures on appropriate test platforms.
Definition of requirements for creating test environment/setup.
Create records of all deviations/defects and follow the defect lifecycle until resolution.
Develop automation scripts to automate test procedures, data collection, generate reports, and ensure repeatable measurements.
Working closely with design engineers to troubleshoot problems.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or other engineering discipline.
Experience in verification, with hands-on testing experience.
Experience in verification and testing of embedded systems.
Experience in developing test cases and traceability of test cases to requirements.
Experience in developing detailed test procedures.
Experience with Simulink test, python scripts, NI-Lab View, or standard automation tools.
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, MagicDraw with SysML).
Experience in using Defects Management and Tracking systems (e.g. ClearQuest)
Ability and willingness to travel as required (<10%).
Experience in verification and testing in the rail or automotive industry (desirable).
Understanding of control design principles and communication protocols (desirable).
Experience in identifying and implementing test automation solutions (desirable).
Knowledge of professional system engineering practices for the full development life cycle (desirable).
