Overview

We are seeking Lead CNC SWISS Lathe Programmers/Machinists for a 2 month Travelling contract to MISSOURI.

Flextrades is seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Programmer to support a precision manufacturing client. This role serves as the lead programmer and setup resource, focused on programming and proving out new parts on CNC Swiss machines and supporting production as needed. The position also plays a key role in sharing knowledge and best practices with full‑time machinists and operators in a high‑precision, tight‑tolerance environment.

Project Specs:

  • 2 month duration onsite in MISSOURI
  • Pay Rate $48/hr
  • 50hrs/week GUARANTEED
  • $45 per diem (tax-free), 7 days a week
  • Private hotel accommodations (we handle the booking)
  • References and ITAR Documentation Required
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
  • Travel time compensation

Responsibilities

  • Program/Setup Citizen Swiss Lathes and Star Swiss Lathes (R07, C16, L16, A220, L12, L20s) producing Complex parts for Aerospace, DoD, DoE, Medical
  • Program new parts using Mastercam and Esprit, then set up and test them on CNC Swiss machines
  • Select cutting tools, coordinate with Purchasing for orders, and make adjustments for best performance
  • Update and revise programs when customer changes occur and document those updates
  • Performing changeovers, following inspection plans, and doing light deburring
  • Train Full Time Employees

Qualifications

  • 4+ recent years experience using MasterCam, Esprit nice to have
  • Proficient in Solidworks
  • 4+ years Programming/setting up Swiss Lathes
  • Ability to take new parts from programming through setup, testing, and handoff to production
  • Ability to read customer drawings and CAD models (often SolidWorks), apply GD&T, and work with both standard and metric measurements
  • Experience working in high‑mix, low‑volume environments while holding very tight tolerances
  • Experience selecting cutting tools and materials (mainly stainless steel, with some mild steel and plastics), along with strong communication and mentoring skills
