Overview
We are hiring a Lead CNC Lathe Machinist for direct hire with a global manufacturer in Woodridge, IL. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll set up and operate CNC lathes, ensure quality standards, and help guide other machinists on the floor. Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes and related machine tools.
Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T tolerances.
Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges).
Lead by example, assisting machinists with setups, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Support equipment maintenance and minor repair activities.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
3–5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
Strong CNC lathe setup and operation experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Skilled in precision measurement and inspection tools.
Willingness to work 2nd shift (M–F, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM).
Preferred Qualifications
CNC programming experience (preferred, not required).
Prior experience as a lead machinist or team leader.
Manual machining background.
Previous work in large-scale manufacturing or repair environments.
