Job Overview:

Overview

We’re hiring a hands-on Field Lead to oversee and execute low-voltage infrastructure projects. You’ll direct small crews while performing installations for copper and fiber systems and related network hardware. This is a mix of leadership, technical work, and job costing—perfect for a technician who enjoys managing people and doing quality installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor installation crews during site work and project rollouts.

  • Install, troubleshoot, and certify twisted-pair and fiber optic cabling (Cat6/Cat6a and fiber).

  • Terminate and splice fiber, including mechanical and fusion splicing techniques.

  • Assemble and secure server/network enclosures, racks, and cabinets.

  • Implement cable pathways and support hardware: trays, ladder racks, J-hooks, conduit (EMT/rigid) and raceways.

  • Deploy wireless access hardware, AV components, and backup power units; rack-mount equipment and perform final hookups.

  • Read architectural plans and produce accurate field estimates and material lists; coordinate quotes with sales.

  • Maintain clear documentation using common office software and job reporting tools.

  • Enforce site safety standards and proper use of lifts and fall-protection equipment.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years installing low-voltage cabling and fiber; at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity.

  • Hands-on experience certifying copper and fiber runs and resolving installation issues.

  • Comfortable working across commercial, industrial and warehouse settings.

  • Able to operate aerial and scissor lifts and work safely from ladders.

  • Strong communicator — able to interact professionally with clients, project managers and sales staff.

  • Comfortable preparing estimates from on-site assessments and blueprints.

Preferred Credentials

  • BICSI or manufacturer certifications (e.g., Corning, Leviton) a plus.

  • Formal lift training / certification is beneficial.
