**

Trenton, NJ Area

Summary

We are seeking an experienced

Bridge Inspection Team Leader

to lead field inspections of bridges and transportation structures. This position will oversee inspection teams, evaluate structural conditions, identify deficiencies, prepare technical documentation, and ensure inspections meet applicable

NBIS, FHWA, and DOT requirements

.

**Responsibilities

**

  • Lead bridge inspection teams during

    **routine, detailed, and in-depth structural inspections

    **.

  • Perform inspections of

    **steel, concrete, and other bridge structures

    **.

  • Inspect bridge decks, beams, girders, bearings, foundations, substructures, superstructures, and related components.

  • Identify

    **corrosion, cracking, deterioration, structural damage, and other deficiencies

    **.

  • Direct and coordinate field activities for bridge inspection team members.

  • Ensure inspections comply with

    **NBIS, FHWA, NJDOT, and applicable transportation standards

    **.

  • Review bridge plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and previous inspection reports.

  • Document field conditions through

    **photographs, measurements, notes, sketches, and technical reports

    **.

  • Determine and document bridge component condition ratings.

  • Prepare and review

    **bridge inspection and condition assessment reports

    **.

  • Recommend additional evaluations, maintenance, or repairs when deficiencies are identified.

  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, clients, and transportation agencies.

  • Ensure inspection documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.

  • Follow applicable

    **traffic control, fall protection, confined-space, and field safety procedures

    **.

  • Utilize lifts, ladders, scaffolding, snooper trucks, and other bridge-access equipment as required.

  • Travel to project and inspection sites as needed.

**Qualifications

**

  • Strong experience performing

    **bridge and structural inspections

    **.

  • Previous experience as a

    **Bridge Inspection Team Leader

    ** strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of

    **NBIS and FHWA bridge inspection requirements

    **.

  • Experience working on

    **DOT transportation infrastructure projects

    **.

  • Experience inspecting

    **steel and concrete bridges

    **.

  • Ability to identify structural deterioration and accurately evaluate bridge conditions.

  • Strong knowledge of bridge components and structural systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret

    **engineering drawings, bridge plans, and specifications

    **.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing detailed bridge inspection reports.

  • Strong leadership and field-team coordination skills.

  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in varying field conditions.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • **NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification

    ** strongly preferred/required based on project requirements.

  • **NJDOT bridge inspection experience

    ** highly preferred.

**Education

**

  • Bachelor's degree in

    **Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline

    ** preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education, bridge inspection certifications, and extensive relevant experience may be considered.

  • **Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

    **, where applicable.

**Salary

$130,000 – $160,000 annually
