Job Site Repair is hiring an experienced Lead Auto & Diesel Mechanic for our Rosemount, MN location.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced mechanic with a minimum of 7 years of automotive and/or diesel repair experience. You’ll perform repairs and diagnostics while also helping lead the day-to-day shop workflow, including prioritizing work orders, assigning repairs, supporting other mechanics, coordinating parts, and keeping jobs moving safely and efficiently.
We’re looking for someone who is a strong mechanic first, with the experience and leadership skills to guide and support the team while continuing to work hands-on in the shop.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day workflow of the shop
- Prioritize and process vehicle repair work orders
- Assign repair work to mechanics and oversee jobs through completion
- Perform hands-on automotive and diesel repairs and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and computer programs
- Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and complex repairs
- Evaluate vehicles and recommend necessary and future repairs
- Test vehicles to verify repairs have been completed correctly
- Locate and order parts needed for repairs
- Communicate with vendors regarding parts availability and inventory
- Communicate with customers and ownership regarding repairs, recommendations, and completion timelines
- Ensure inspections are completed and critical vehicle components are in safe working condition
- Train, guide, and support mechanics to promote quality workmanship and efficiency
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive shop environment
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For / Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on automotive and/or diesel repair experience required
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing medium-duty trucks, gas vehicles, diesel vehicles, fleet vehicles and/or commercial equipment
- Previous Shop Foreman, Lead Mechanic or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to prioritize work orders, assign repairs and keep jobs moving efficiently
- Ability to lead, guide and support other mechanics
- Dependable, organized and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills with employees, customers, vendors and ownership
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Pay
$45 - $55/hour
