Overview:

Oversee and lead the logistics team across key operational areas including receiving, material handling, inventory management, shipping, and cut line operations. Collaborate closely with receiving, shipping, and cut line teams to consistently meet daily performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs). This role exercises independent judgement and discretion in managing logistics operations, personnel, and priorities to meet business objectives.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities (Inventory Management, Shipping, Material Handling):

  • Ensure system and data integrity through oversight of accurate transaction processing and adherence to established ERP procedures.
  • Manage time and attendance tracking for all direct reports, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
  • Administer corrective and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies.
  • Lead training and development initiatives to enhance team performance and skillsets.
  • Support the creation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics operations.
  • Oversee daily activities in the shipping yard to ensure smooth and safe operations.
  • Facilitate Tier 1 meetings for Shipping, Receiving, and Cut Line teams to drive communication and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales and Customer Service to provide timely and accurate responses to shipping-related inquiries.
  • Uphold and enforce 6S and safety standards across all logistics areas to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Make operational and personnel decisions using independent judgement in alignment with company policy and business needs.
  • Assist Supply Chain Manager
  • Monitor material requirements within the warehouse and coordinate transportation by scheduling trucks to and from the warehouse.

Shipping Operations:

  • Oversee all shipping activities to ensure daily targets are met and the On-Time Delivery (OTD) KPI is consistently achieved.
  • Collaborate daily with the Shipping/Cut Line Coordinator to prioritize Cut Sheets based on Planned Goods Issue Dates and ensure shipments are scheduled to meet daily goals and maintain OTD performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies for shipment setup, including proper identification of all third-party drivers and enforcement of the Prysmian Jackson Truck Rules upon arrival.
  • Verify that SAP Load Sheets are used to stage shipments and are signed by the responsible shipping associate.
  • Monitor outbound shipments to confirm freight costs are accurately recorded in SAP.
  • Coordinate and manage return shipments back to the plant as needed.
  • Serve as backup for the Shipping/Cut Line Coordinator during absences.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma Required; Bachelor preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with SAP SD module.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Logistics experience within a fiber optic production environment.
  • Familiarity with cable manufacturing processes, including handling and routing of Finished Goods Inventory (FGI).
