Job Summary:

The Laser Programmer and Operator will be responsible for safely the programming, setup, and operation of production and prototype parts on a CNC laser. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Programs, cuts, and inspects production and prototype parts using a CNC controlled laser.

· Safely retrieves and loads material from receiving department.

· Works with Short run, Inspection, and Design personnel to ensure quality parts.

· Adjusts and monitors machine parameters for proper operation.

· Assists with cleaning, maintenance, housekeeping, and other department functions as needed.

· Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

· Reads and interprets calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.

· Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  Required Skills/Abilities: 

· Must have strong Windows PC experience and be able to learn programming.

· Must be able to read and interpret calipers, micrometers, and blueprints.

· Must follow written and verbal instructions.

· Must have good basic math skills.

· Ability to maintain database and written records of completed work, and inspection records.

· Ability to communicate and work with people in office, factory, and inspection.

· Must work well independently and in a team environment.

· MUST be safety oriented.

· Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.

· Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.

· Ability to read blueprints and various measuring tools.

· Ability to exercise sound judgment in adapting setups.

· Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

· Ability to maintain correct tolerances and quality specifications.


Education and Experience:

· 1-3 years of work experience or equivalent training preferred

· Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.


Physical Requirements: 

· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. 

· Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. 

· Must wear safety glasses.
