Job Overview

Microtech Knives is looking for a Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating laser engraving equipment to ensure precision marking and customization of our industry-leading knives. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. This is an entry-level position, and we are seeking the right candidate to train. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Laser Operation & Programming:
    • Program, set up, and operate laser engraving machines with precision and efficiency.
    • Ensure correct settings for depth, speed, and power to achieve high-quality results.
    • Load and unload materials onto the machine safely and efficiently.
  • Quality Control & Troubleshooting:
    • Monitor machine performance and engraving quality, making adjustments as needed.
    • Identify and correct any malfunctions, defects, or inconsistencies.
    • Conduct visual and measurement inspections to meet product specifications.
  • Technical & Computer Skills:
    • Work with PTL files and simple layout software for laser engraving operations.
    • Utilize Excel and other computer programs to track production and settings.
  • Collaboration & Process Improvement:
    • Assist and train team members on laser operation techniques.
    • Work closely with production and quality control teams to ensure on-time delivery of orders.
    • Suggest improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and product consistency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience operating laser engraving or similar CNC equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect changes in part characteristics.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Working knowledge of basic math, measuring tools, and hand tools.
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
