With a team of skilled machinists and a commitment to craftsmanship, JWC operates across a broad range of materials and part complexities — from standard production runs to challenging large-format and specialized work. **POSITION SUMMARY

**

JWC Machine and Fab operates large-format CNC equipment — including Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs) and Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs) — capable of handling parts up to 44,000 lbs. We are seeking a Large CNC Machine Operator to join this team. This is a broad role: compensation and responsibility level will be matched to the candidate's demonstrated capability, which ranges from machine load/setup operations to independent setup, programming, and job execution on complex large parts.

**RESPONSIBILITIES

**

• Set up and/or operate horizontal boring mills and vertical turret lathes per engineering drawings and job travelers

• Safely handle, position, and secure very large workpieces using cranes, rigging, and precision fixturing

• Perform in-process dimensional inspection to print requirements using large-scale measurement equipment

• Make offset adjustments and minor program edits at the machine control to maintain dimensional accuracy

• Coordinate with engineering and supervision on setup strategy for complex or first-time jobs

• Communicate any safety, tooling, or quality concerns before they become production issues

• Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment in compliance with shop safety standards (training provided if needed)

• Maintain accurate job records and material traceability throughout the process

**QUALIFICATIONS

**

• Experience operating large CNC machine tools — HBMs, VTLs, large boring mills, or equivalent

• Comfort working with very large, heavy workpieces and precision fixturing systems

• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T tolerances

• Experience with large-scale inspection methods — height gauges, dial indicators, precision levels

• Fanuc or equivalent CNC control experience; program editing ability a plus

• Candidates who can perform independent setup and programming will be given preference and compensated accordingly

• Overhead crane operation experience or willingness to obtain certification

• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and follow all rigging and safety protocols
