What You Need to Know
Genesis Products is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Lamination Press Line Operator for our wood processing manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Obtain maximum production (with minimum downtime) in accordance with daily/weekly schedule and established company standards maintaining a favorable balance of quality grades.
  • Set up the machine according to the specific run as defined by the scheduling department. Deviations from schedules must be approved prior to production.
  • Maintain cleanliness at all times; no broken boards under or around the press, no boards leaning against press gates, no paper hanging under the press, pits/staging tables clear of tickets/paper/wood chips, consoles clean and wiped down, excess dust blown off, photo eyes cleaned regularly.
  • Assure that the machine has the proper materials to perform the specific schedule and that the line remains loaded.
  • Report any material problems including quality or unavailability; communicate all paper quality issues with the paper room supervisor and raw board quality issues with the scheduler (to be communicated to the purchasing department).
  • Work closely with the inspector to ensure the quality of the finished board.
  • Responsible for training, communicating with and supervising the inspector and providing relief.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of production in the log book; # of 1st, 2nds, 3rds, temp/pressure/cycle times, full account of all downtime, paper loss and damage.
  • Report any maintenance problems immediately to the Maintenance Department and log the problem in the log book.

Qualifications:


  • Lamination Machine Operation: Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting lamination press equipment to ensure smooth production runs.

  • Quality Assurance: Strong ability to conduct quality checks and ensure finished products meet company standards and customer specifications.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of machine maintenance, including identifying and reporting maintenance needs promptly.

  • Production Process Knowledge: Familiarity with wood processing or manufacturing workflows, including material handling and adherence to production schedules.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor production data (e.g., temperature, pressure, cycle times) and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.

  • Safety Compliance: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and cleanliness standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Capability to train, supervise, and communicate effectively with team members, including inspectors, to ensure consistent quality output.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials as needed, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Quick response to material or equipment issues, ensuring minimal downtime and continuous production flow.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Competence in using computer systems for logging production data and communicating with relevant departments.
