Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Laminating Operator to join our Rugs Department on 3rd Shift (Sunday night–Thursday night, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM). In this role, you will be responsible for pulling carpet rolls needed to fulfill customer orders and loading them into the laminating cradle to begin the production process. The material is then guided through the laminator, where it is carefully monitored and inspected for quality concerns before proceeding to the cutting table. This position plays a key role in ensuring product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Pull daily orders and verify carpet rolls needed

  • Pull carpet rolls from storage bins

  • Load carpet rolls into the laminator cradle

  • Check carpet for holes and other noticeable defects while carpet is being fed into the laminator

  • Apply backing if required

  • Check for quality issues when carpet is loading into the line and as it leaves the laminator for defects

  • Communicate with Cut Table Operator to successfully hand off order info

  • Must be lift truck certified and perform LTO duties as needed

  • Cross-train in Finishing Operator position

  • Work on R&D projects as needed to support the department

  • Perform job duties inside and outside of the Rugs Department as needed to support plant operations

  • General housekeeping duties

  • Communication well with management to address departmental needs

  • Maintain the integrity and security of an array of sensitive and technical tools

  • Perform job duties in a safe manner

  • Work night, weekends and holidays when required to meet customer orders

  • Actively participate in various committees

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent

  • Must have good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Must be able to work independently, without close supervisor

  • Computer skills with current software experience

  • Previous experience as Finishing Operator in Rugs Department preferred
