Responsibilities:

Performs all daily tasks to operate insulating equipment and ovens in a safe and efficient manner to produce quality wire.

1.    Perform first hour duties including, but limited to:

a.    Complete oven process control change card (Blue Card)

b.    Check all drawing dies; with special attention to the finish die and lube nozzles for plugging and misdirection.

c.     Change finish die felt and check vibration dampener.

d.    Check enamel flow on all ovens.

e.    Inspect Lear heads to make sure they are on and the wire is running through the reeds, and verify alignment.

f.      Check bare wire supply.

g.    Report any set deficiencies to your Group Leader or Supervisor

2.    Identify scrap wire with the appropriate documentation. If determination on wire cannot be made, wire should be placed in the disposition square for determination.

3.    ODQ all finished product.

4.    Change lube felts on changeovers, ox jobs, and once per month by plants guidelines or as needed.

5.    Complete all changeovers, conversions, start-ups and spec/package changes.

6.    Complete operations oven checklists

7.    Correct all red tags, trouble slips, and ODQ issues promptly.

8.    Put downed wires (ox jobs) back on production.

9.    Communicate any maintenance issues to Group Leader/Supervisor to ensure works orders are written for anything that needs repaired.

10. Change scotch rites in bare wire clamps on required ovens as needed.

11. Complete all necessary quality tests.

12. Maintain a high level of housekeeping.

13. Setup set for next operator/shift.

14. Truck finished goods and raw material

15. Follow all safe work instructions and company policies and procedures.

16. Train Operators as assigned.

17. All other work-related duties as assigned.

 

Schedule: 12-hour shift that follows a 2-2-3 pattern on a 6 week rotation (6 weeks on days from 8am to 8pm & 6 weeks on nights from 8pm-8am); half the year off!

Pay: Starting at $23.50/hour

Requirements:

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and handle stress.

·         Must be fork-lift qualified.

·         Basic computer skills

·         Basic reading, writing and math.

·         Must be able to master the skills required and complete operator training.

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the manufacturing site including high temperatures. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing stairs, reach above and below chest level, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with arms. This position works at various levels. The employee needs to be able to work on a platform, up to 80 feet high, with a grated floor. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds and may be exposed to chemical, non-toxic fumes or dust. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: The employee will occasionally be exposed to Cold Temperatures <55 degrees and Heat >100 degrees. The environment is well lit; The noise level in the environment is loud due to exposure and use of fork trucks, but employee may be exposed to higher than 85 decibels on occasion, hearing protection is required. Employee may be occasionally required to enter confined spaces.
