Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Automation Engineer II will lead and/or contribute to cross-functional automation initiatives to improve efficiency in partnership with analytical and process development scientists.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups to support the implementation, design, development and maintenance of automated test methods for analytical and process development using computer programming and scripting.
  • Mentor Laboratory automation engineering staff in areas of expertise and provide relevant on the job training through work instructions and job aids for specific platforms, troubleshooting, and additional support as needed.
  • Support Analytical Development managers with client engagement and provide technical expertise on an as needed basis.
  • Determine areas for gaining lab efficiency and/or cost reduction, and coordinate with individual groups to ensure harmonized implementation of best practices.
  • Provide maintenance, upkeep, and calibration of liquid handling instruments and equipment. Identify and resolve errors of moderate complexity. Evaluate, recommend, and execute plans for program updates and preventative maintenance to maintain operations.
  • Respond to troubleshooting calls, performing diagnostics and repairs on an as-needed basis. Identify end-user training needs and provide training as-needed.
  • Coordinate vendor visits, answer questions and provide relevant information as-needed. May identify, assess and implement new vendor relationships.
  • Monitor existing automation for end of life/replacement/repair and provide information to support the identification and justification for technology and equipment upgrades, process technologies, and process improvements.
  • Organize and maintain an archive of data from instruments

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in a related field of study and 4-8 years of relevant experience, preferably within the biopharmaceutical space.

Salary: $99,000-$136,000

Salary range provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
