This role is part of Enterprise Engineering, where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EE allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will perform various activities in support of our team and customers such as board bring-up, prototyping, solder rework, and test planning. We are looking for someone experienced and hands-on with the ability to adapt to various lab needs while maintaining focus on quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Support hardware demos (bring-up and functional operation) and ensure prototypes operate within specification.
  • PCB troubleshooting, rework and soldering as required (some fine pitch), board-level rework, some level of hands-on assembly and modification.
  • Manage cabling and wiring for test racks to support test.
  • Contribute to maintenance of parts database.
  • Travel as necessary to assist team with external testing needs.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in small engineering / electronics lab work
  • Experience with all or most of the following:
    • Procedural PCB bring-up, bench setup/tear-down
    • Using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, scopes, analyzers).
    • Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
    • Performing electronics lab management / maintenance
    • Test instrument calibration
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for hands-on problem solving and avionics test
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Domestic travel required (10-25%). Foreign travel possible.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • 5+ years experience in small engineering / electronics lab work
  • Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • Experience with schematic capture / layout (Altium highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with git and JIRA
  • Capability to use or learn software for basic test automation (LabView, Python, etc.)
  • Experience developing and testing hardware to IPC standards
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-883
  • Associates or B.S. degree in electrical, computer engineering or related field


Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $103,230.00-$144,522.00
