Team or Function Overview

The right candidate will be invited to join the Stockton Plant team and continue a legacy of over 40 years of successful operations in this location. We operate two production lines that produce rolled roofing products for both commercial and residential applications.

Summary

We are looking for a Lab Technician to be responsible for performing various quality systems and testing activities for manufacturing operation, including raw material and process fluid testing, quality audits, plant trials, and quality lab maintenance and organization, as well as reviewing information and making suggestions and participating in continuous improvement projects and initiatives. This position reports to the Process Engineer III.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review real-time quality
  • Generate reports
  • Perform chemical and physical property tests
  • Communicate with production operators and leaders
  • Audit lab and manufacturing processes
  • Maintain the plant MSDS database
  • Order routine lab supplies
  • Maintain lab calibrations and documentation
  • Assure all activities are performed safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely
  • Must be able to drive a forklift which requires sitting for long periods of time, as well as the ability to use your arms and legs to work the controls, breaks and steering wheel.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and/or stairs
  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing
  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery
  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone
  • Occasionally operate business machines
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • BS degree in Science or Engineering coupled with 2-5 years of demonstrated experience as a lab technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to coach and motivate others.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven follow-up and problem resolution ability.
  • Solid computer skills including Google Suite.
  • Familiarity with standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.

Annual Salary Range: 44,753-57,184
