POSITION SUMMARY


The Laboratory Technician will perform the day to day operations of the Laboratory Team Shift Duties for craft beer and wine production, with supervision and direction of the quality manager. Includes multiple tiers (Technician I, II, III, and senior lab technician) based on experience and merit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates, cultivates, and supports a safe and inclusive environment for co-workers, customers, and the community.

  • Technician I includes

    • Functional Competency in Core Lab Functions as outlined in SOPs. Including, but not limited to:

      • Microbiology (ie: Traditional Methods, PCR)

      • Analytical chemistry (ie: Spectrophotometry, Titration, Liquid-Liquid Extraction)

      • Yeast propagation and management

      • Taste panel and sensory experiments

      • Instrument and laboratory maintenance

    • Data collection and analysis of in-process beer

    • Effectively communicate lab results to the production team

    • Application of the Scientific Method to assist in achieving production goals

    • Ability to learn and support beer production

  • Technician II includes all of the above, in addition to:

    • Experimental design and project management

    • Subject matter expert in at least one laboratory function

  • Technician III includes all of the above, in addition to:

    • Training and process improvement

    • Leadership opportunities

  • Senior Lab Technician includes all of the above, in addition to: 

    • Maintains training and SOP management

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED


  1. Has professional lab experience with microbiological assays, analytical instrumentation, and statistical process control

  2. Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills

  3. Self-motivated with an interest in learning, process improvement, and applied science

  4. At least 21 years old

  5. Passion for ensuring quality through science

  6. Ability to adhere to a rotating shift schedule with potential for weekend work

  7. Computer competency (Office, Google Drive, SAP; etc)

  8. Other duties as assigned by the quality manager


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Ability to work long hours on your feet

  2. Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and move up to 160 lbs

  3. Ability to work in a hot, wet, and loud environment

  4. Ability to crouch, bend, lift, climb stairs, and reach 

  5. The ability to remain focused and level-headed under demanding situations

COMPENSATION 


Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Odell’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons.


Hourly Rate Range:

Range of $22.00 - $30.00 hr
