As the Laboratory Technical Manager, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the smooth operation of our laboratory while collaborating closely with our Environmental Test Engineers. You will ensure the laboratory meets UKAS Accreditation standards and contribute directly to our Test & Qualification team. This is a crucial position where your expertise will help drive success, deliver excellence, and maintain the highest standards in testing and qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring high-quality standards in all aspects of testing and environmental qualification.
  • Maintain ISO 17025 Accreditation and ensure compliance with military, commercial, and automotive standards, including BSENs, ISOs, and CISPRs.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure the laboratory’s testing schedule aligns with the latest standards and customer requirements.
  • Provide critical support to Project Managers by offering environmental testing services, in-depth design verification, and free format development testing.
  • Collaborate as part of the Test & Qualification team to execute environmental tests and ensure compliance with the relevant standards.
  • Review and implement test plans and generate comprehensive laboratory/test reports that support Certificates of Design.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of a 2.1 Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a technical support or management role within an environmental laboratory setting.
  • Essential: Proven technical competence to ISO 17025 in areas such as Vibration Testing, Shock Testing, Climatic Testing, Stress Screening Testing, and Measurement Uncertainty.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with international collaboration and working in multi-cultural teams.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Expertise in technical report writing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to engage with technical teams and project managers at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of inertial measurement units (IMU).
  • Experience across the product introduction lifecycle.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
