What this job involves –

Seeking a Lab Services Technician to join our team. This position entails working with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at a client site. This role provides a wide variety of support services to the client’s research laboratories including laboratory logistics and management, inventory management, waste stream management, freezer management, glass washing and autoclaving, equipment moves, bulk chemical delivery and gas systems, laboratory and office moves, and conference room set ups. The successful candidate will be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and a team player attitude.

What is your day to day?

  • Proactively perform lab services scope of work for the account, implementing client standard processes and procedures, ensuring superior customer satisfaction, sustaining a safe work environment and demonstrating productivity.
  • Manages scientific staff’s requirements and concerns pertaining to Laboratory Services and acts as contact to the research departments for Lab Support scope of work.
    • Routine laboratory maintenance, cleaning of benchtops, basic washer and dryer care.
  • Ensure agreed-upon consumables are available during normal business hours with no stock outs.
    • Service and support laboratory glassware needs; collecting, transporting and machine washing or autoclaving labware and glassware including fragile and specialty items.
  • Ensures that there are no interruptions, disruptions, or losses arising from unscheduled downtime of client services. Systems operations and maintenance must be safe, reliable, and economical.
  • Initiates work orders for facilities and laboratories.
  • Conducts assigned safety, environmental, and other required inspections/audits of departmental facilities. Ensures that appropriate documentation is submitted and takes prompt action to correct conditions found to be out of compliance or unsafe.
  • Responsible for evaluating area operations and implementing new procedures in order to improve efficiency and/or safe work practices.
  • Assists in facilitation of project coordination, move support, and internal work orders scheduling and completion per client specifications.
  • Escorting vendors within the site with adherence to client EHS requirements and practices.
  • Meet all safety and other compliance requirements in execution of all work.
  • Escalate risks throughout the organization appropriately.
  • Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.

Desired experience and technical skills

Required

  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be a team player, committed to customer service with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to manage and perform scheduled work while accommodating non-routine requests in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation.
  • Ability to detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.
  • This role entails frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and carrying materials and equipment

Preferred

  • Two-year degree, scientific field of study preferred or equivalent related work experience.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in the biopharma space.
  • Experience working with general lab equipment, such as cold rooms, incubators, water bath and controlled temperature units.
  • The job involves field work requiring frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and carrying materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or less.

Estimated total compensation for this position:

50,000.00 – 55,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
