Position Summary:

The Lab Manager / Chemist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring

accurate testing, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of plating and chemical processes.

This role combines technical expertise with leadership, ensuring the lab supports production, quality, and

environmental goals while maintaining a culture of safety and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Chemical Analysis & Process Control

• Conduct and oversee chemical analyses of plating solutions, baths, and related processes.

• Ensure chemical compositions remain within specified limits to support consistent product

quality.

• Lead troubleshooting efforts for plating baths and chemical-related issues.

• Maintain accurate records of laboratory test results, wastewater analyses and chemical usage.

Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with the Quality team to verify plated product compliance with aerospace, military,

and customer specifications.

• Develop, refine, and implement laboratory quality protocols.

• Provide technical input during customer audits and internal quality reviews.

Wastewater & Environmental Compliance

• Manage wastewater treatment system monitoring and chemical adjustments.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.

• Train staff in proper chemical disposal, spill response, and environmental safety.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all laboratory and chemical handling operations meet OSHA, EPA, and NADCAP

standards.

• Train employees on safety practices and enforce compliance.

• Serve as the primary contact for safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field and/or Minimum 5 years’ experience

in chemical laboratory operations, preferably in plating, aerospace, or metal finishing.

• Proven supervisory or management experience.

• Strong understanding of plating chemistry, wastewater treatment, and environmental compliance.

• Familiarity with NADCAP, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards is highly desirable.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

You should be proficient in:

  • Wastewater Treatment
  • National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP)
