Kennedy Valve Co. is a subsidiary of McWane Inc. Kennedy Valve is a gray and ductile iron foundry and computerized machining and assembly operation. We supply fire hydrants and valves to the water works and fire suppression industries. We have been manufacturing these products in Elmira, New York, for over 125 years.

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, assist with maintenance planning, training, safety, special projects, and scheduling work. This position requires supervising and coordinating work of employees within the maintenance department that repair, maintain the building/facility, and production machinery/equipment in the facility.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Foundry Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for corrective actions based on hazards, procedural discrepancies, deterioration of equipment, schedule maintenance activities, update PM’s for efficiency and improvements.
  • Consult with Production Operations to resolve production needs and maintenance support.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities of maintenance department.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and monitor maintenance parts, and materials as needed for emergency repairs.
  • Develop long range preventative, routine maintenance, and training plans for employees.
  • Industrial maintenance repair and high voltage electrical along with PLC programming.

  • Perform the following audit types: Parts Audits, PM Audits
  • Job Planning to include cost summaries, parts requisitions, equipment modification and outside contractor support as needed.
  • Supervise and implement safety and housekeeping practices including hazardous waste disposal.
  • Directly involved in new hire process for department, coaching employees, and multifaceted field.

Qualifications

Five to Seven years supervisory experience or five years maintenance experience in a Foundry preferred.

Certification or technical degree in related area preferred.

  • Standing for long periods of time, walking throughout the facility, ability to lift 50lbs as required.

Work Environment

  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in a managerial office.
  • Potential for alternating rotation of 1st and 2nd shifts.
  • Minimal travel requirements to other McWane facilities and suppliers.
