Job Overview:

The Junior Quality Engineer at Salford Group is an excellent growth opportunity for Quality Technicians, Inspectors, or Auditors eager to advance their careers. 

The job reports to the Site Operations Manager with a dotted line to Director, Product and Process Integrity, this role is responsible for conducting routine and moderately complex inspections on both in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. The Junior Quality Engineer will play a key role in training and supporting production inspectors and operators on quality processes, control forms, and procedures. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying, recommending, and implementing quality enhancements on the plant floor. This position requires strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a proactive approach to resolving internal and customer quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and effective Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for product & process related concerns.
  • Assist the Corporate Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors, including incoming receiving inspectors, to ensure that products and processes comply with the requirements of the quality management system.
  • Conduct monthly manufacturing audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports.
  • Determine failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Train, implement and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality boards, quality procedures, documentation, etc.
  • Accurate & timely data entry of non-conforming tickets
  • Using data collected within the organization, write quality assurance reports/presentations that describe manufacturing problems, corrective actions taken, and preventative measures needed.

Required Skills/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Manufacturing, Quality or other related discipline.
  • Minimum three years of related experience in quality assurance functions.
  • Familiarity in drawing interpretations and geometric dimensional tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge in gauging methods, calibration, and gauge R and R’s.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Read operating and quality assurance reports
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Understand quality management systems
  • Must have basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot issues.

Wage range $22 - $30 per hour, overtime eligible.
