Job Overview:

About Us

Aegis Advanced (

](https://www.aegis-advanced.com)) applies high-performance industrial coatings that protect and extend the life of critical equipment parts. Aegis is part of Spectrum Labs, a group of technology companies that includes Fluoron Inc. and Radiant Cleaning. We are known for fast turnaround, high quality, and taking care of our customers, and we are investing in robotics, thermal spray, and other next-generation manufacturing equipment.

The Role

This is a hands-on starting position on the Aegis coating line. You will begin by staging parts, setting up jobs, and preparing surfaces, including abrasive blasting. As you build skills, you will be trained to run robotic coating cells, thermal spray equipment, and other advanced manufacturing systems. If you like working with your hands, take pride in doing a job right, and want a real career path in modern manufacturing, this job is for you.

What You Will Do

  • **Stage and set up jobs:

** Receive, identify, and stage customer parts; follow work orders; set up fixtures, masking, and equipment for each job.

  • **Prepare surfaces:

** Clean, mask, and abrasive-blast parts to the required finish so coatings bond properly.

  • **Measure and check your work:

** Use tape measures, calipers, and gauges to check dimensions, surface profile, and coating thickness; flag anything that is off.

  • **Support coating operations:

** Assist technicians with coating application and curing, then grow into running thermal spray and robotic equipment yourself.

  • **Keep equipment and the shop in shape:

** Do basic upkeep on blast and coating equipment, change consumables, and keep the work area clean and organized.

  • **Work safely:

** Wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures.

  • **Record your work:

** Log job steps, checks, and materials used so every part is traceable.

A Typical Week (Starting Out)

  • About 40% staging, masking, and job setup

  • About 40% abrasive blasting and surface prep

  • About 20% measuring, documentation, cleanup, and training on coating equipment

As you progress, more of your time moves to thermal spray, robotics, and coating application.

What You Need on Day One

  • Good mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools

  • Ability to take basic measurements (tape measure, ruler) and do simple shop math

  • Reliable attendance and willingness to learn, take direction, and follow safety rules

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements below

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Experience in a machine shop, fabrication, automotive, or construction setting

  • Use of calipers, micrometers, or other precision measuring tools

  • Interest in robotics, automation, or technical training

Do not meet every item? Apply anyway. We hire for attitude and aptitude and teach the rest.

Training and Growth

  • Hands-on training with experienced technicians on surface prep, safety, and measuring from day one

  • Step-by-step training on thermal spray, robotic coating cells, and other advanced equipment
