JOB SUMMARY
The Journeyman Repair Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines to ensure effective performance.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines.
- Follows diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listens to problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices by using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools by examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
- Anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Places and expedites orders, verifies receipt of orders.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Assembles items as instructed by supervisor/manager.
- Follows all safety rules and quality standards including all company policies and procedures.
- Performs job assignments in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high quality levels.
- Adheres to standardized work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Keeps work areas clean and organized while taking care of all equipment and facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and servicing miscellaneous machinery and equipment.
- Ability to use various measuring tools such as calipers, squares, protractor and measuring tapes.
- Basic computer and math skills
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production environment under tight time constraints managing multiple priorities.
- Must possess an understanding of production procedures.
- Must adhere to health and safety regulations (consistent use of P.P.E)
- High level of attention to detail
- Must have excellent time management skills and work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to stretch, push, pull, bend and move as needed to reach, clean and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and transport 50 lbs. at a time.
