Journeyman Electrician

Position Summary

A well-established electrical contractor in New Haven County is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to join their growing team. This position is ideal for a skilled electrician with strong commercial experience who can work independently, troubleshoot electrical systems, and complete installations safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment

• Read and interpret electrical plans, blueprints, and specifications

• Perform wiring, panel work, lighting, and equipment connections

• Troubleshoot electrical issues and determine effective solutions

• Perform service calls and electrical maintenance

• Install lighting systems, LED conversions, panels, transformers, and related equipment

• Ensure work complies with the National Electrical Code and applicable Connecticut requirements

• Maintain a safe and organized work environment

• Coordinate with customers, contractors, and other trades

• Assist apprentices and less-experienced electricians when needed

• Inspect completed work for quality and code compliance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional electrical experience preferred

• Journeyman electrical license preferred

• Strong commercial electrical experience

• Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, controls, and troubleshooting

• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics

• Knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical safety practices

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
