Work Schedule
The schedule for this position requires 10-hour shifts from 12 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Thursday.
What You Can Expect
Provide proactive leadership and support of all Health and Safety programs at Jack Daniel Distillery.
Ensure 100% compliance of site operations with regulatory OSHA/TOSHA requirements relating to Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics.
Support development and implementation of current and new initiatives, programs, and process improvements to reduce injuries and illnesses, and continuous improvement programs for overall Health and Safety performance.
Provide input into safety-related budgetary items, track performance to plan, and prepare reports and presentations on costs associated with safety programs and metrics.
Responsible for supporting capital projects, performing contractor safety audits as well as maintaining the Contractor Safety Program, including contractor orientation and documentation, such as orientation cards, sign-in sheets, and contractor employee lists.
Shall promote employee involvement in safety performance and culture.
Support and conduct Health and Safety compliance assurance and B-F Metrics audits, and provide sustainable corrective actions to resolve issues.
Conduct and/or validate accident investigations to determine root cause and sustainable solutions utilizing 5 whys/7 ways in a timely manner.
Establish a proactive Health and Safety culture and reduce risk-taking behaviors to prevent accidents in the workplace.
Manage leading and lagging safety data and prepare reports as necessary.
In coordination with the site occupational nurse, support local workers' compensation claims, issues, and disability costs through claims management practices and return-to-work programs.
Ensure the site meets the hazardous chemical program requirements and maintain the digital chemical approval process using our SDS management tool.
Provide Safety resources for all Jack Daniel Homeplace Properties.
Complete compliance training classes with group sizes ranging from 1-150 employees and manage a training tracking system.
Identify and evaluate Industrial exposure needs based on site hazards.
Perform other duties as requested by the manager.
Provide security support for all JD Lynchburg locations, which cover approximately 2,500 acres and over 180 buildings. This includes 39 contract security guards providing 24/7/365 coverage. Maintains a relationship with local law enforcement, coordinating efforts for large JD community events.
Fire Brigade – Provides support for fire protection for all Lynchburg-based facilities.
Emergency Services – Respond to emergency calls for injured employees or visitors, including up to 300,000 tourists and contractors per year. Coordinates efforts between JD medical personnel and local EMTs.
What You Bring to the Table
Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of one year of varied experience in an industrial environment with a focus on safety.
OSHA 30-Hour in General Industry
CPR/First Aid training
Demonstrated written communication skills; ability to compose final draft memos/projects/reports; excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
Ability to produce finished material from basic instructions.
Demonstrated oral communication skills with the ability to formulate responses to detailed questions in representing company policy/practice within a function, at all levels of the Company.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel. Excellent interpersonal skills while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to complete work with speed and accuracy within an established timeframe.
Demonstrated computer ability using various business software.
Ability to work a flexible schedule and or overtime to meet deadlines or plant shutdown demands.
