Job Title:      Welder-A
Reports to:    Welder Leadman
Job Type:    Hourly, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY    Welds materials using a variety of processes – primarily FCAW and GMAW

 

REQUIRED COMPENTENCIES
•    Produces quality welds as defined by Quality Manual and supporting documents.
•    Capable of using multiple processes – primarily FCAW and GMAW.
•    Sets up welding equipment to optimize weld quality and productivity.
•    Follows welding procedures and directions of supervisor.
•    Uses basic welder’s tools and equipment.
•    Checks welds for conformance with applicable quality requirements.
•    Performs general daily maintenance tasks and checks of welding equipment
•    Upkeep and cleanliness of work areas.
•    Follow company safety & security guidelines
•    Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
•    Other duties as needed.

•    Operates forklift and other material handling equipment to move materials and manipulate workpiece

 

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  


REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•    2 years minimum of experience on continuous welding in, (FCAW/GMAW/BACK GOUGING) 18" to 24" as minimum on single weld pass     without stop. company is willing to train on some areas.
•    Ability to repair own welds
•    Able to run a multi-pass fillet 
•    Run a 36” single pass without stopping
•    Blueprint and weld procedures reading
•    Shop math
•    Must have completed some formal training and pass pre-employment weld testing.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting up to 30 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.  The employee is frequently required to sit while performing the duties of this job (approx. 70%) walk (30%) stand (0%).  The employee is expected to lift or move materials (5% of workday) 

 

MENTAL DEMANDS
Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; reading and interpreting information; judging distances and accurately; following oral and/or written directions; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards
