WHAT YOU GET TO DO

The IT Systems Engineer I supports delivery and operational readiness of IT infrastructure for customer projects under the guidance of senior engineers. This role performs defined installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure systems are implemented according to KNAPP standards, project schedules, and documented procedures. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Execute defined installation and configuration tasks for servers and network infrastructure at customer sites in accordance with project documentation and standards
  • Configure and support network components including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems under established guidelines
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and connectivity, escalating deviations or issues in accordance with escalation procedures
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of IT and network issues, documenting findings and actions taken
  • Maintain accurate system, network, and configuration documentation 
  • Collaborate with project teams and senior engineers to support system implementation milestones Participating in customer-facing support activities and basic system training as directed Comply with all KNAPP policies, safety requirements, and professional conduct standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, NAT, VPN)
  •  Familiarity with Linux or willingness to learn
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Entry-level certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Travel up to 50% is required 
  • Ability to travel by air domestically (U.S.) and internationally (primarily, Austria, other parts of Europe, and Canada) 
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport 
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times 
  • Physical requirements may include: sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds
