Job Description:
The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for the daily leadership and execution of Shipping, Receiving, Cycle Counting, and Order Picking operations, ensuring alignment to safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
This role drives continuous improvement across the Sun Prairie supply chain by identifying best practices and implementing process enhancements within warehouse operations, planning systems, and internal plant workflows to consistently meet customer demand.
Additionally, the Inventory Supervisor leads and executes multiple moderate to highly complex materials and supply chain initiatives, supporting operational efficiency and performance improvement.
Due to the cross-functional nature of the role, this position partners closely with stakeholders across the organization and operates in both office and manufacturing environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide coaching, mentoring, and inventory expertise to team members with minimal oversight, building capability and accountability across the team
Lead and balance workforce activities to optimize safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC), ensuring effective utilization of labor and assets
Own training programs for inventory personnel, including development and maintenance of skills matrices and certification tracking
Drive execution of moderately to highly complex supply chain initiatives, including:
Inventory accuracy and turnover improvement
Customer on-time delivery performance
Cross-functional continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, throughput, and productivity
Act as a change agent by identifying, analyzing, and improving process performance through data-driven decision making
Develop and execute material and inventory plans based on equipment capacity, labor availability, and raw material constraints, aligned to stocking strategies and customer demand
Benchmark internal processes against best practices and lead implementation of operational improvements
Create, standardize, and continuously improve work instructions for warehouse and inventory-related processes
Serve as a Super User and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ERP systems and inventory processes, supporting system adoption and continuous improvement
Demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development through continuous learning in supply chain and inventory management best practices
Education, Skills, and Experience
Associates or Bachelor’s degree required in a business related field and 3-5 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience in supervision with solid leadership skills
Ability to navigate skillfully in ERP system
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Outlook)
Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills required
Strong organizational skills and a stellar attention to detail are essential
Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient math skills including adding, subtracting, multiply, and dividing decimals
Working knowledge of Lean
APICS certification preferred
