Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. May build a mini-application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client. May provide software development and consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation. Ensures that the product application/solution is functioning according to specifications. May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer personnel by disseminating technical information on specific applications.

As a Customer Systems Intern at Micron Technology, Inc., you will:

  • Run and configure diagnostic software, design experiments, analyze and interpreting data, creating custom tools (Hardware and Software), presenting data to customers both inside and outside Micron. On occasion, you may will carry out these responsibilities at customer locations. To accomplish these responsibilities you will use a variety of equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, multi-meters, etc.).
  • You will work with other engineers within the Customer Systems Engineering Group, Field Application Engineering, Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, and all business unit teams.

Debug Micron Product Qualification Failures

  • Work with customers and memory enablers like CPU manufactures to attain design wins and qualifications of Micron memory products in their applications
  • Provide technical support to customers and the field sales force
  • Support includes applications advice, product recommendations, and technical problem resolution
  • Visit and/or contact memory enablers e.g., chipset and CPU manufactures to determine their needs for new products and/or features in memory products
  • Work with factory marketing and applications engineering to determine the feasibility of specific new products, packaging, or features
  • Provide product training to the field sales force, distribution sales, customers, and enablers
  • Work with marketing and factory applications engineering to review and respond to product specifications and technical questionnaires submitted by customers
  • Identify and communicate the needed Marketing Communication literature (e.g., product guides, cross references, advertisements, etc.
  • Work with the Sales team to coordinate and manage the account relationship and drive design activities to maintain and grow existing business

Design and Implement Micron Product Qualification Automation

  • Create test scripts for a variety of applications X86, embedded, video processors, etc.
  • Create and modify hardware that controls test parameters (i.e. temperature or voltage)
  • Interface customer diagnostics with pre-existing automation scheme
  • Interface with external customer to create intelligent DOE (design of experiments)

Perform Failure Analysis (FA)

  • Utilize diagnostics to reproduce the original failure
  • Identify failure mechanism
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and Return Material Authorization (RMA)
  • Communicate findings with customer

Perform System Characterization

  • Use software, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and other tools to understand memory usage
  • Develop software to interpret data
  • Collaborate with Product and Application Engineering
  • Communicate results

Education Required

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.

Qualifications (Preferred but not required)

  • Design of printed circuit boards
  • Simulation of printed circuit boards and related systems
  • Experience in using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Protocol analyzers
  • Hardware and/or Software debug skills using 8D, fishbone diagrams and other debug processes
  • Creative technical problem-solving skills in a lab environment
  • Ability to read, learn and interpret system output logs
  • Fundamental scripting and coding knowledge

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$20.48 - $128,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
