Job Summary:

As a Software Quality Engineer intern, you will acquire an understanding of what is required to be the Software Quality interface and drive overall quality performance including continuous improvement and implementation of lean/agile methodologies. You will help to ensure programs meet customer objectives by working closely with other functions to support rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills. You will work in a results-based culture with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

You will experience problem-solving while working in a team environment. Your work will involve planning, coordination, facilitation, analysis, and influencing to achieve continuous improvement and successful program execution, focusing on Software Quality. You will learn what it takes to provide Quality Sciences Subject Matter Expertise for work product and process compliance to meet tactical and strategic objectives. You may work at all levels of the organization to drive root cause and corrective action utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Participation in root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action solutions.
  • Analyze and interpret trends.
  • Ensure flow down and compliance to Raytheon and contract program requirements, both internally and to external suppliers.
  • Interface with Raytheon’s supplier base to resolve any open issues.
  • Review and disposition nonconformances and nonconforming artifacts.
  • Interface with customers and DCMA to ensure compliance and resolution of any reported issues.
  • Knowledge of Agile development and Software Products.
  • Review major deliverables to ensure contract compliance prior to delivery to customer. Includes reviewing major deviations and waivers, acceptance test results and all major anomaly conditions.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Actively enrolled and pursing a bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Cyber Security, Systems Information, or Information Technology, or related STEM field
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Pursuing degree in field of Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Analytical skills in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action
  • Ability to build effective relationships through partnering and collaboration.
  • Experience in continuous improvement processes such as Six Sigma and/or Lean Methodologies
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic and challenging, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with Python or programming

  • Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
